Elementary OS X by jamiepgs Elementary OS X by jamiepgs
Elementary OS X 0.1 by Jamie Greenland

Contains an Emerald theme and a Chrome/Chromium theme.

Emerald Theme 0.1 //

To install the Emerald theme you must have Emerald Themer installed which can be found in the Ubuntu Software Center. The easiest way to enable the Emerald theme is to install Compiz Fusion Icon, also found in the Ubuntu Software Center, and select Compiz as the Window Manager. To keep this setting you can add "fusion-icon" (without quotes) to your Start-Up Applications. Alternatively you can just type "emerald --replace" (without quotes) into Terminal which will enable Emerald for that session.

The Emerald Theme is optimised for the Elementary EM GTK theme: [link]

However you can easily change the colours using the Emerald Themer to better suit your current theme, or you could change the window colour of your current skin in Appearance and selecting Customize.

Google Chrome Theme 0.1 //

To install the Google Chrome theme simply open the elementary osx chrome.crx file in Chrome/Chromium and the skin should install.

For the future //

I am currently working on a GTK theme based on the original Elementary theme which will, hopefully, more closely resemble OS X however with a slight Elementary-ness to it. Note that I will not be creating an icon theme as I simply don't have the time.

Please report any bugs or post any suggestions here.

Ah, this brings me back. Kind of hard to imagine how recently Emerald was maintained, GTK 3 wasn't around; no Unity, no GNOME Shell. Just a lot of modding for anyone who wasn't using KDE. :D Only two years ago this was common. Wow.

Don't get me wrong, I love all that new stuff. There are just so many targets for theming, now. I hope things can settle down somehow. Nice theme, by the way. It's definitely uniquely shaded.

The Metacity button system works differently to the Emerald one I used. I did have a Metacity theme for the GTK theme I was working on, but I've since abandoned the project and lost the files. If I find the time I may re-create this theme for you, however I'm currently preparing for University in a few weeks so I wouldn't hold your breath. I am planning on starting a GTK3/GTK2 theme soon based on the Elementary OS X style, but it wont be until next year before any kind of version gets released. (Again, due to time restraints with uni)

Sorry I can't be of much help.

I was trying to recreate the idea behind the buttons and was very close to it but my coloring was a bit off, I will keep working at it and if anything comes of it I will definitely share it with you and everyone else. Thank you for at least giving me something to work off of. Much luck to you in your endeavours in life

Looks very promising! I'm not a theme maker but i'd add a slight white gradient on top of the window decoration (where it is gray). Windows looks a little too flat to me ;)

PS this might become my new default theme on my Ubuntu box! Cheers

Thanks, but theme development is on hold for the moment, been having trouble with Ubuntu on my main computer and virtualisation is just too messy. Will begin developing again as soon as I get Ubuntu working again ;)
